What I Think About Caregiving Schools in the Philippines

I just came to think of this lately. The caregiving schools and other schools in the Philippines that teach how to be a good and better maid for other countries are a mistake. I don't understand why the government would produce and develop citizens who would become maid (or let me just use the euphemism 'helper') for rich countries. Is that how desperate we are now? I really think that the government should focus on projects that will enhance the people's knowledge and skills and work for its own economy afterwards and not work as 'helpers' abroad. What we need is strong manpower that would boost our economy and eventually improve the condition of our country. It is so funny to think that there are private individuals now in our country who are opening schools for those who want to become housemaids or yayas abroad. Is this all that we can do? I think we are heading in a wrong direction. Yes, it may be true that they would earn dollars, help their family, and contribute a little something to the country through their remmittances but the question is, are we just be contented to be servants for others? Why be servants when we have brilliant minds and can become greater than being a helper and bring changes to our country? Aren't we Filipinos smart, hardworking, patient, and gets along well with others?

It's funny to note too that our country is producing so many nurses without even considering the possibility that these nurses might not get employment afterwards. Should the government limit? Or should they just allow every Juan to enroll nursing eventhough no nursing jobs awaits for him? Most Filipinos want to become nurses because they want to work (again) abroad and earn dollars. Again, this is working for others, for other countries. How about our own country? Is our government not afraid of the brain drain that is happening to our country now? What would happen to us in the future? The skillfull ones, the intellegent ones, and the hardworkings are slowly migrating leaving behind the rest who mostly don't care about the country's welfare. Well, do we still care by the way?It seems as if we don't care anymore and we're very much apathetic because the corruption in the government and the scandals of the people on top ruin our trust in them and lose our hope.

Have you noticed too that many schools have started offering nursing programs? And have you noticed that they take and take in students eventhough they couldn't accomodate them anymore? They accept applicants even if these students have no aptitude in nursing. They don't care as long as you pay your tuition. Gosh! What is happening to our country. Are we even aware of it? Hay! Let us pray na lang.

These are just few of the concerns that our government should look into. I feel like the people up there are just wasting time making "tarayan" against their political enemies. Hay! Masyadong makapolitics...wala namang progress. Let's pray na lang uli.
